At CCR Compliance, we provide professional edge protection installation, inspection, testing, and certification services for commercial, industrial, and public sector buildings across the UK. Designed in accordance with BS EN 13374, CDM 2015, and the Working at Height Regulations 2005, our systems provide reliable collective fall protection for anyone accessing rooftops and elevated working areas.
As the UK’s only triple ISO accredited rooftop compliance company, CCR Compliance delivers fully compliant edge protection solutions that help reduce risk, protect contractors and staff, and ensure buildings meet current health and safety regulations.
The Working at Height Regulations 2005 prioritise collective fall protection over personal protective equipment wherever possible. Edge protection systems provide continuous protection for anyone accessing a roof, without relying solely on harnesses or fall arrest systems.

CCR Compliance provides a complete range of edge protection design, installation, inspection, and certification services for commercial and industrial buildings across the UK. Working in accordance with BS EN 13374 and the Working at Height Regulations 2005, we help building owners, facilities managers, and contractors create safer rooftop environments while maintaining full compliance.
Every rooftop presents unique risks. Our specialists carry out detailed surveys and risk assessments to identify exposed edges, rooflight hazards, access routes, changes in level, and other potential fall risks. We then design a compliant edge protection solution tailored to the specific building, roof structure, and operational requirements.
We install a wide range of permanent and temporary edge protection systems designed to provide reliable collective fall protection. From modular guardrail systems and parapet-mounted solutions to rooflight protection and non-penetrating systems, every installation is completed to current British Standards and Working at Height Regulations.
Regular inspection is essential to ensure edge protection systems remain safe, effective, and compliant. Our engineers carry out comprehensive inspections covering structural integrity, fixings, dimensions, system continuity, and overall condition. Upon completion, we provide detailed reports and certification suitable for health and safety records, FM portfolios, and compliance audits.
For planned maintenance, inspections, cleaning projects, and construction works, we supply and install temporary edge protection systems that provide safe access without compromising compliance. Our trained operatives install, inspect, and remove all temporary systems, ensuring complete protection throughout the duration of the project.
Our managed compliance programmes help businesses maintain ongoing rooftop safety compliance across single buildings and multi-site portfolios.

MANAGED COLLECTIVE PROTECTION — ALWAYS COMPLIANT, ALWAYS DOCUMENTED
The CCR Annual Edge Protection Compliance Programme ensures your guardrail and edge protection systems remain in documented compliance with BS EN 13374:2018, Schedule 2 of the Working at Height Regulations 2005, and your PUWER 1998 obligations — year on year, without gaps in your inspection record.
Permanent edge protection systems installed on commercial and industrial buildings represent ongoing work equipment under PUWER 1998 and are subject to periodic inspection obligations. Where a building is accessed regularly for maintenance or inspection, the duty to ensure the edge protection is fit for purpose is continuous. A single missed inspection or an unrecorded defect creates a compliance gap that cannot be retrospectively corrected — and which becomes critical evidence in the event of a working at height incident.
The CCR Edge Protection Annual Compliance Programme manages this obligation on your behalf. We schedule visits, carry out systematic inspections, issue updated compliance certificates, and maintain a live asset register of all edge protection on your estate — across single buildings or multi-site portfolios.

The class is determined by roof slope at the point of installation. Class A for surfaces up to 10°. Class B for 10°–30°. Class C for 30°–45°. Most flat commercial rooftops require Class A. CCR Maintenance Ltd carries out a site-specific assessment to confirm the correct class before specifying any system.
Not always, but the starting point is the Working at Height Regulations 2005 Regulation 6 hierarchy: collective protection must be considered first. Where roof access is required for any purpose, the dutyholder must assess whether permanent edge protection is the most practicable collective protection measure. For regularly accessed roofs, permanent edge protection is almost always the appropriate solution. CCR Maintenance Ltd provides a compliant documented assessment to support this decision.
Schedule 2 of the Working at Height Regulations 2005 specifies a minimum of 950mm, with intermediate protection ensuring no gap exceeds 470mm. CCR Maintenance Ltd recommends a minimum of 1,100mm for all new permanent commercial installations, consistent with industry best practice and CDM guidance. Toeboards must be at least 150mm.
Yes. Where edge protection constitutes permanent or semi-permanent work equipment under PUWER 1998, periodic inspection by a competent person is required. The Working at Height Regulations 2005 also require that working platforms are inspected before use and at suitable intervals. CCR Maintenance Ltd provides periodic inspection and issues full reports and compliance certificates.
Yes. Non-penetrating systems including counterweight base and weighted-base proprietary guardrail systems are available for flat roofs where membrane penetration is undesirable. CCR Maintenance Ltd confirms the roof structural capacity under counterweight loading before recommending a non-penetrating solution.
Uncertified guardrail systems have no documented structural basis. The correct action is an immediate competent-person inspection confirming dimensional compliance, fixing integrity, and system class. CCR Maintenance Ltd carries out retrospective inspections, issues compliance or non-compliance certificates, and provides a clear remedial programme.
